Four-star weekend in Clemson

Four-star safety Romeo Finley and four-star guard John Simpson will return to Clemson this weekend for their official visits.

It’s been more than a year since Finley’s only other trip to Tigertown.

“I just want to see what Clemson is about. I haven’t been up there in about a year and I’m just trying to see what it’s about, experience it once again, see what they have to offer,” he said. “It’s probably a lot now, since they just came off being the runner-up in the national championship game, so I’m just going to go up there to see some things and have a good time.”

Finley, who’s from Niceville Fla., was offered by Clemson during his sophomore year. That summer, he took his only other Clemson visit.

“I (remember) it was nice and it’s a college town,” he said.

Defensive backs coach Mike Reed serves as Clemson’s primary recruiter.

“He was DB coach of the year…they’ve got three people that just declared and probably are going to get drafted. He’s definitely doing well, doing his part,” Finley said.

The staff continues to stress available spots, which were left vacant by Jayron Kearse, T.J. Green and Jeff Gibson.

“They said it’s a big opportunity. You just have to come in and work, which is good,” Finley said.

Georgia Tech, his leader, had him on campus last weekend.

“I just love ATL and I have a good relationships with their coaches. I just like everything about it,” Finley said.

Miami has the the final official, which is scheduled for the final weekend of the month.

The three ACC schools are his finalists.

“I guess where I see myself, where I feel like I would fit. There’s opportunities at all three schools,” Finley said. “It just comes down to me making a decision.”

As a senior, he had 60 tackles and two interceptions. On the offensive side of the ball, he score four touchdowns.
