The last weekend before Signing Day is upon us and there’s still plenty of sorting out to do over the next five days.
Clemson started things off on Thursday night with a trip to Fort Lauderdale, to see four-star cornerback Trayvon Mullen (Coconut Creek, Fla.). The plane from Clemson arrived just before 7:30. It was in the air back to Clemson about 40 minutes later.
Mullen will announce make his Signing Day decision at 9 a.m. on ESPNU. Florida State, LSU, Louisville and TCU are also listed as the finalists.
Swinney will use his visit with Fort Dorchester four-star offensive lineman John Simpson on Friday. Clemson and Florida are the finalists.
The Clemson head coach will jet back for a big weekend that includes a pair of official visitors and a whole bunch of the country’s best 2017 prospects.
Friday also marks the end of K’Von Wallace’s trip to Clemson and the start of his Ohio State visit. It’s the same deal with Isaiah Simmons, but vice-versa with Michigan.
Wallace, a Cincinnati commitment from Highland Springs, Va., has enjoyed his trip to Tigertown, as indicated by TheClemsonInsider sources. Twitter sources said the same.
Simmons, a four-star safety from Olathe, Kan., will decide between Clemson, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois and Missouri.
Last, but not least, Clemson’s second official visitor is none other than the No. 1 player in the country, five-star Rashan Gary (Paramus, N.J.). The Tigers have their work cut out for them, as they go up against long-time favorite Michigan.
“I only went to Clemson once and got a good feel,” Gary said, in a USA Today story on Thursday night. “I’m going back to make sure that feeling didn’t change. Plus my uncle lives 15 minutes away.”
Gary was in Atlanta to receive the Bobby Dodd National High School Lineman of the Year award from the Touchdown Club of Atlanta.
Alabama continues to push for an unofficial visit while Gary is in the region this weekend.
Four-star safety target Romeo Finley is set to visit Miami. The Niceville, Fla. prospect is going to announce the day before Signing Day. Georgia Tech is also in the mix.
Four-star defensive tackle Michail Carter (Jackson, Ga.) will head to Georgia after taking a mid-week trip to Alabama. Georgia Tech received an official visit, after he was in Clemson earlier this month.
