Updating the news on Williams

On Saturday night, multiple sources told TCI that Clemson has picked up a commitment from four-star cornerback LeAnthony Williams Jr.

However, LeAnthony Williams Sr. reached out to TCI shortly after the initial report, to say that his son has not committed to Clemson.

“We (spoke) to Dabo (Swinney), but we needed more time,” he said. “My son wasn’t ready.”

Williams was on campus at Clemson for Saturday’s Junior Day.

A 6-foot, 170-pound prospect from Roswell, Ga., Williams also has offers Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU.

His former high school teammate, five-star linebacker Tre Lamar, enrolled at Clemson in January. Williams was joined in Tigertown on Saturday by fellow 2017 prospect Xavier McKinney, who’s committed to Alabama.
