Perhaps the biggest need for Clemson in 2017 is at defensive back.
Several of the top-rated defensive backs from the 2017 haul were in Clemson for Saturday’s Junior Day. Four-star safety Cyrus Fagan (Daytona Beach-Mainland) was among them.
“It was a great experience,” he said.
The best part of his visit was getting a chance to check out The Hill.
“It was exciting for me going down and I wasn’t even playing and there were any fans there,” he said. “I know it’s exciting if there’s 85,000 people in the crowd and on national TV. That was the best part.”
Fagan spent time with defensive backs coach Mike Reed and his area recruiter Jeff Scott. The No. 7 safety in the country (Rivals) also spoke with Dabo Swinney.
“He’s a cool guy. I met his wife, too. They’re real cool and they’re really there for their program,” Fagan said. “They want to see everybody be successful at Clemson that’s on his team.”
Jamyest Williams, a four-star cornerback from Georgia, was at his side throughout the day.
“It was just good knowing that we could…keep the legacy going on, if we all decide to go to Clemson, put that orange and purple on,” Fagan said.
Four schools are sticking out, but there is no favorite.
“Clemson and Florida State, probably the Florida Gators, Tennessee,” Fagan said.
He added, “That’s just the schools I like so far. They all have a good chance.”
As a junior, Fagan had 68 tackles and two forced fumbles. He also scored five touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.
