Vinson makes it three 2017 OL

Clemson picked up a third offensive line commitment to the 2017 class on Sunday afternoon when four-star (Scout) tackle Blake Vinson announced on Twitter.

The Citra-North Marion (Fla.) four-star joins four-star guard Matt Bockhorst (Cincinnati) and four-star tackle Noah DeHond (Rochester, N.Y.) as the Tigers’ 2017 offensive line commitments.

“Mainly, after the visit, and just talking to my family on the ride home and this morning, just kind of recapping everything that I’m looking for in a school and after that it was just clear-cut,” Vinson told TheClemsonInsider. “I could visit any school that I wanted to, but Clemson is everything we’re looking for.

“I really like all the coaches, all the players, so I really don’t see any reason in continuing my recruiting process.”

Clemson landed Vinson over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina and a host of other Power 5 programs.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound prospect first popped up on the radar in December of 2014, when Vinson attended one of Clemson’s practices, before the Russell Athletic Bowl.

In April, Vinson visited Clemson, to watch spring practice.

He was back in June during camp, when he visited with several of his teammates.

Clemson had him back on campus again last fall for the Boston College game.

Vinson returned on Saturday for Junior Day.

“I feel like Clemson is where I belong and it’s the best place for me to be,” he said.

After Vinson settled back into things at home on Sunday, he decided to make the call to Dabo Swinney.

“He was really happy. And he wanted to know why I chose Clemson. He was saying I’m a guy they wanted and that I was on the top of their list,” Vinson said. “So I was a priority for them and I just made his whole week.”

Both DeHond and Bockhorst were on campus this weekend, too. Bockhorst committed on Saturday afternoon.

“They’re both two great guys. Matt and I actually stayed together Friday night with some of the players, then I was talking to Noah and everything,” Vinson said. “They’re two really great guys and two guys I’m really looking forward to getting to know and playing with.”

Scout ranks Vinson as the No. 32 offensive tackle in the class of 2017.
