Mullen goes with Clemson

All-American cornerback Trayvon Mullen just announced on ESPNU that he will sign with the Clemson Tigers.

Clemson landed the four-star cornerback from Coconut Creek High School in Florida over LSU and Florida State. Louisville and TCU also received official visits.

“Basically, just the opportunity, I like the program. I love the program,” Mullen said on ESPNU. “When I first stepped on the campus, I just fell in love with the environment, all the people. I just felt it was a place I could grow and be successful.”

According to ESPN, Mullen is the No. 2 ranked cornerback in the class of 2016.

“It’s just different when I stepped on the Clemson campus. They were my dream school growing up…just got that feeling when I stepped on the campus. It was a really big deal and I just felt it in my heart,” he said.

With the loss of Mackensie Alexander, Clemson is down a starting cornerback. The early departures by T.J. Green and Jayron Kearse leave openings at the starting safety jobs.

“I feel like I can come in and make an impact next year. I feel like we can get back to the national championship, because I feel like I can play a big role on the defense,” Mullen said.

Consistency helped give the Tigers the edge.

“Every day I woke up, Clemson was in my head, Clemson was in my heart, so I just rolled with Clemson,” he said.
