Zachary Carter, who’s ranked by Rivals as the second-best strong-side defensive end in the class of 2017, took his first visit to Clemson last fall for the Florida State game.
The four-star prospect from Tampa-Hillsborough returned to Clemson last weekend for Junior Day. Afterwards, he spoke with TheClemsonInsider about the trip.
Here’s what he had to say:
How was Junior Day?
Carter: “It was good. It was a good experience.”
What all stood out?
Carter: “Some of the best parts — something about Clemson that stands out is the family atmosphere that coach Swinney has established.”
What about the facilities and all the buildings — was there anything that you got to see?
Carter: “The facilities, the dorm rooms and buildings, I loved it all.”
How about talking with the coaches, what did they have to say?
Carter: “I talked to coach Hobby and coach Elliott the most. They just said they wanted me there. They wanted me to see it and that would do the talking. Coach Hobby told me that he’s recruiting me hard and this class would be a big deal for him.”
Do you have any other plans coming up for other junior days?
Carter: “I don’t know. I’m thinking about going to Miami. Maybe Auburn. I don’t know.”
What about favorites? Do you have any favorites?
Carter: “Right now, I don’t have any leaders. I’m weighing all my options right now.”
