A number of factors worked in Clemson’s favor during the pursuit of Trayvon Mullen.
The Tigers landed the four-star cornerback from Coconut Creek, Fla. seven days ago — just as National Signing Day was getting cranked up.
“I just loved the people. I love the environment. I love coach (Dabo) Swinney, coach (Mike) Reed and coach (Brent) Venables. They just give a good vibe,” Mullen said. “I just like the way they do things and how they played this year.
“They were kind of my dream school growing up, so that played a big role. I just love everything about them.”
What made Clemson his dream school?
“The program was always a hype program. They made it to the national championship and they always play for the ACC in the regular season.”
Bashaud Breeland was his favorite player.
“He just played tough and competed a lot. I just loved his swag and how he played,” Mullen said.
When he gets to Clemson later this year, Mullen said he’ll bring a lot to the Tigers’ secondary.
“I’m going to go in and compete right away, try to get a spot and play as soon as possible and grind,” he said.
Clemson always was the choice, even though he also considered Florida State, LSU, Louisville and TCU.
“I was just second guessing myself a lot,” Mullen said. “Then it just came to the point where I was like, this is where I’m supposed to be.”
