Okey looking forward to seeing new players

Clemson catcher Chris Okey says he is looking forward to seeing what some of the younger Tigers will do this baseball season. The Tigers will open the 2016 season on Friday when they host Maine at 4 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Okey, who earned All-American status last season, was named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List on Wednesday. He has received several other preseason honors coming into the new season.

  • First-team All-ACC by College Sports Madness and Perfect Game

  • No. 25 prospect for the 2016 draft by Baseball America
  • No. 20 junior in the nation by Perfect Game
  • No. 3 catcher in the nation by D1Baseball
  • No. 4 ACC prospect for the 2016 draft by Baseball America and Perfect Game
  • No. 5 ACC prospect for the 2016 draft by D1Baseball
  • No. 1 defensive catcher in the ACC by Baseball America
