Four-star cornerback LeAnthony Williams Jr. went public with his commitment to Clemson on Monday afternoon. The 6-0, 175 pound prospect is the first defensive back to commit to the Tigers for 2017.
TheClemsonInsider first reported Williams’ commitment to the Tigers on January 30, after his Junior Day visit to Clemson. After the report, his father said he hadn’t pulled the trigger on a commitment to the Tigers.
“We (spoke) to Dabo (Swinney), but we needed more time,” Williams Sr. said. “My son wasn’t ready.”
Williams is the eighth commitment for the Tigers’ 2017 class.
Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame and others were considered by the Roswell, Ga. junior.
