Clemson has big date with Yellow Jackets

Fighting for its NCAA Tournament lives, Clemson heads to Atlanta for a key date with ACC rival Georgia Tech today at the McCamish Pavilion. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.

The Tigers (16-11, 9-6 ACC) currently sit a game back of Virginia for sixth place in the ACC standings. The top six seeds get a first-round bye in the ACC Tournament, which is set to begin on March 8. Clemson will host Virginia next Tuesday in the regular season-finale at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville.

Clemson forward Jaron Blossomgame is coming off a career-high 33 points at NC State, the most by a Tiger in an ACC road game since 1969. He needs just 11 points to reach 500 for the season, which would make him the 14th player in Clemson history to reach the mark.

Blossomgame’s current scoring average of 18.1 points per game is the largest by a Tiger since Will Solomon’s 19.7 figure in 2000-01.

The last two players Avry Holmes has primarily guarded (Eli Carter, Cat Barber) were a combined 2-29 from the field in those two games.

Center Landry Nnoko needs five blocked shots to pass Dale Davis for fifth on Clemson’s all-time list. He has 206 entering tonight’s game and is ranked second among all ACC players at 2.4 swats per game.

Sidy Djitte matched his career highs for both field goals (6) and attempts (8) in the game at NC State. He contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.

Donte Grantham matched his career high with seven assists in the Tigers’ most recent game.
