BUFORD, Ga. – Nico Collins hasn’t visited Clemson yet but that’s not stopping him from listing the Tigers as one of his favorites.

Before Collins (6-5, 185) picked up his invite to Oregon for The Opening, the four-star wide receiver from Pinson, Ala. told TheClemsonInsider that Clemson, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, Florida State and Ole Miss make up his top six.

“They’ve done good with receivers, so I guess they’ve got something good down there,” Collins said. “Good receivers like Sammy Watkins came out of Clemson, so I could see that as a Receiver U type of place.”

Most of his Clemson contact has been with head coach Dabo Swinney. Collins also hears from defensive ends coach Marion Hobby, who recruits the state of Alabama.

January’s Junior Day was targeted as the trip to Clemson.

“I didn’t get a chance to (go), but my coaches went down there for a coaches clinic — they said it pretty nice down there,” Collins said. “I’ve got to get down there soon.”

He added, “I’ll probably go down there and try to make a spring practice or in the summer. If not in the summer, then for a football game.”

Michigan is scheduled to host Collins on April 1 for their spring game. He’s also planning to visit Georgia and Florida State. His most recent trips were to Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

Collins caught 31 touchdown passes during his sophomore and junior seasons.
