Salyer likes the Clemson coaches

Just over a week after he was named the best offensive lineman at The Opening in Atlanta, 2018 guard Jamaree Salyer returned to Clemson.

The Atlanta-Pace Academy four-star visited Clemson on Monday with his teammate, 2017 offensive tackle Andrew Thomas. Their last visit to Clemson was for January’s Junior Day event.

“Just how coach (Tony Elliott) stayed around us — all of the coaches stayed around us, loved us, talked to us a lot — it was just a great environment,” Salyer said.

The Tigers’ co-offensive coordinator/running back serves as the point man in the recruitment of the two prospects.

“He’s a great guy. He has a great personality. I love coach Elliott to death,” Salyer said. “That’s my guy, ride or die. Just the whole with him and coach (Dabo) Swinney, all the coaches, it just feels like a home-type of environment.”

Offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell has also made a positive impression on Salyer (6-3, 226).

“I love coach Caldwell. Coach Caldwell is probably my favorite coach, but don’t tell coach Elliott that,” Salyer said. “Coach Caldwell is probably my favorite coach. I just love talking to him. He’s a guru when it comes to o-lines. That’s my guy.”

The same could be said for Dabo Swinney — Salyer’s impressed.

“Dabo, he’s really good. His speech got me motivated at the Junior Day,” Salyer said. “He really made me think about Clemson, compared to other schools.

“That’s really my goal, to compare Clemson to other schools.”

Why Clemson?

“(Swinney) challenged me to do so, and I don’t back down from a challenge.”
