Justin Foster knows what he wants to study in college.
As he approaches the end of his junior year at Crest High School, it’s just a matter of deciding where he’ll major in Mechanical Engineering.
“I’ve been to one of the engineering classes with my sister, because she’s there. But I haven’t really talked to anyone else (at Clemson),” Foster told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday, after his visit for the Orange and White spring game.
“The coaches said I could major in it and everything, but I haven’t really done anything other than that.”
Several schools are in the mix for the four-star linebacker from Shelby, N.C.
Along with the two trips to Clemson, Foster (6-3, 225) has been to Tennessee, NC State, UNC, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Kentucky this year. Kentucky, Georgia and Virginia are slated to host him in the coming weeks.
Over the years, the 2017 prospect has been Clemson more than any other school — Saturday’s spring game being the most recent.
“The trip went OK. I didn’t really get to speak to any coaches. I left the game after halftime, because it was windy out there — it was pretty cold,” Foster said. “I spoke with one (graduate assistant) coach. I didn’t get to speak to any of the other coaches.
“It went pretty good other than that. It was pretty much the same old thing. I’ve been down there so many times.”
Foster did catch up with a pair of Clemson commitments: five-star quarterback Hunter Johnson and four-star offensive lineman Blake Vinson.
“They were talking trash about the other schools I’ve been offered by and visited recently, trying to get me to join the commitment list with them,” Foster said.
A commitment isn’t expected anytime soon.
“I’ve been thinking about it. When I get done visiting Georgia and Virginia, probably after those two visits — I’ve pretty much visited all the schools that are close by that I can get to on the weekend,” Foster said. “Then, probably, I’ll start narrowing it down. I haven’t figured out what number I want to release, but I’ll probably release the top list of schools and go from there, visit each school again.
“During the season, I’ll probably knock it down to two or three and go from there.”
