Others in pursuit

Blake Vinson has been committed to Clemson since January, but that hasn’t stopped some schools in their pursuit of the four-star offensive tackle.

“Florida and Alabama, Miami and LSU, they’re all constantly contacting me,” Vinson said. “I tell them I’m done, but they’re hitting me up pretty hard — those schools, and there are some others, too.”

Clemson scored Vinson’s commitment a day after he was on campus for the first Junior Day of the year. He was back last weekend for the Orange and White spring game.

“It was good. We left Friday morning and got in about 2 o’clock on Friday. Got to go walk around Clemson, the campus,” Vinson said. “The game, it was a blast, it was a cool…then also hanging out with Chase (Brice), Hunter (Johnson) and Amari (Rodgers), it was a good time.”

The junior from Citra-North Marion (Fla.) continues to be impressed by the Clemson coaching staff.

“They pretty much have the same message every time I go up there and visit with them,” Vinson said. “They’re really consistent with what they’re saying, and genuine saying I’m the guy they want.”

According to Scout, Vinson is the No. 37 offensive tackle in the class of 2017, but it’s not a given that he’ll play the position when he enrolls in January.

“They’re heavy on the inside right now, so they said maybe I would play a tackle,” Vinson said. “They said one thing they liked is I can play all five on the line, so wherever they need me.”
