Clemson tight end Jordan Leggett is excited about the upcoming season and what the offense has to offer. Having to step up as the new leader at tight end, Leggett is looking forward to watching the young tight ends perform this season.
The Clemson Insider went back to some of the interviews that were conducted this spring and the Tigers’ tight end was able to answer some important questions regarding the upcoming season.
Q: Do you find it easier with the continuity on offense this upcoming season?
Leggett: “Yes, it is definitely a whole lot easier for all the guys that have been here and all the guys who are coming back. It just makes everything so much easier because we have played together. We don’t have to get used to. You don’t have to get used to anybody new.”
Q: This will be your last year, so what are you doing to grow up some of those younger tide ends, and who is impressing you the most, and who are you trying to bring along?
Leggett: “I’m trying to bring all of the along. I’m still working on the leadership role. I’m just trying to be there for them and help them as much as possible. Any questions that they have, I’m trying to help them run better routes. We all try to help each other.”
Q: What are some things you are looking at improving on?
Leggett: “Blocking and leadership role and that’s about it.”
Q: What are you most excited about this upcoming season?
Leggett: “It’s definitely exciting to see all the depth we have on offense. I am really for it. It’s going to be exciting to see what this offense does and we are going to try and build the defense up as much as possible.”
Q: Is it different for you being the leader, the guy who is looked up to and asked upon by others?
Leggett: “It is definitely kind of weird, especially since I just turned 21. I feel like I’m young and I should not be leading anybody. By knowing so much of the offense, I feel like I am able to step into that role and teach these guys whatever they need to know because I have kind of been through it the last four years so I’m kind of getting better at it.”
Q: How well do you think the young guys are developing for the upcoming season?
Leggett: “They are doing well. They are falling back a little bit on like learning so much from the playbook because we put so much in, just all the little things we have to know about the offense. But they’re doing a good job going out there and competing against the defense and stuff like that. Just run blocking, pass catching and stuff like that. So it is very encouraging to see, but we still have to remind them about the little things you have to know about the offense.”
