Schmidt leaves to standing ovation

DURHAM, N.C. — Clemson senior Clate Schmidt pitched another gem on Friday, leading the Tigers to a 5-3 win over Louisville in Game 9 of the ACC Championships.

Schmidt went 8 2/3 innings and gave up eight hits, three runs and two earned runs. He had six strikeouts and one walk in improving his record to 8-4 on the season. It was his third straight win and the Tigers’ seven straight overall.
