Cooper: Clemson program headed in right direction

It’s been a busy summer for Clemson commit Matthew Cooper who has traveled around the nation to play against some of the best. The Clemson Insider caught up with Cooper to get the latest on his summer, the Tigers and more.

“My summer really got started down at PG National in Fort Myers from there I flew out to LA for the East vs. West tournament and we were able to win that tourney,” Cooper said. “Then we played in the Vegas Ball Classic and continued to where I am now in Louisville with Atlanta next week.”

Cooper, who is a member of Clemson’s outstanding 2017 class, is playing several roles this summer.

“I’ve been playing catcher and when I haven’t been catching I’ve been playing DH. I may play outfield here soon as the season goes on,” he said.

The first year success of head coach Monte Lee and the Tigers has Cooper excited about the future of the program.

“It’s very obvious to see the Clemson program is heading in the right direction and with all the success this year I’m looking forward to trying to continue that success,” he said.

What are Cooper’s goals for next season?

“Next season I would love to make a deep run in the playoffs with my high school team for my senior year, but for the fall season I want to continue to get better and try to win Jupiter with the Evoshield Canes,” he said.
