Majkowski impressing this summer for Team Georgia

Clemson baseball commitment Bo Majkowski, the son of former Virginia and NFL quarterback Don Majkowski, has impressed this summer while playing for Team Georgia Baseball Academy.

One of the games Majkowski, a 2017 commit, and his team played took place at Clemson’s Doug Kingsmore Stadium, and Clemson head coach Monte Lee was able to see Majkowski in live action for the first time.

Majkowsi had the opportunity to talk to Lee and assistant coach Bradley LeCroy before and after the game, and he said Lee was very complimentary.

“He told me my swing looked really good and he liked my approach at the plate,” Majkowski said. “Coach Lee really wanted to see me show off my arm a little bit from the outfield, but unfortunately I didn’t get much action out there.”

Majkowski has played in seven or eight tournaments with Team Georgia this summer and competed in the Perfect Game National Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder has played primarily right field, and he is happy with his production at the plate.

“We struggled as a team offensively a little bit, but I hit the ball well and made good, hard contact a majority of my at-bats,” Majkowski said. “It seemed like every ball we hit really hard was right at someone or there was a really good play on the ball, which happens — it’s baseball for you.

“It was still a really fun summer, though. We made it to two championships in tournaments but unfortunately lost both.”

Majkowski hit .333 with 25 runs scored and 13 stolen bases at Johns Creek High School in 2016.

Heading into his senior season, one of his goals is to bulk up.

“I’m definitely going to try to put on some weight this offseason,” Majkowski said, “as well as get faster and a lot stronger.”

Looking forward, what excites Majkowski the most about getting to Clemson?

“Definitely the coaching, being with players all the same level of talent as each other, and honestly being a freshman and having to work for everything again since there is three years of competition in front of you,” Majkowski said. “Our class of 2017 is already really close, so I can’t wait to get up to Clemson and play the sport we love to with each other.

“It’ll be awesome.”
