Clemson verbal commitment Kier Meredith played against some of the top players in the nation last week and got a taste of what life as a professional player is like at the East Coast Pro Showcase. The Clemson Insider caught up with Meredith to get the latest.
“It was great. ECP educated us about the professional side of baseball and we got a taste of that for a week. Plus the competition was amazing,” Meredith told The Clemson Insider.
Meredith put on another strong performance in Florida.
“I feel like I played well. I may a couple great catches in one game and saw the ball well all week,” he said.
At the East Coast Pro Meredith had the opportunity to spend time with a number of future Tigers.
“I roomed with Sam Hall and it was awesome. I hope we are both able to make the National Team and stick together,” he said. “We definitely got closer over the week. I wasn’t able to spend much time with Sam Weatherly at ECP because we were on different teams, but he came to live with me this summer and that was pretty awesome.
“I got to spend some time with Adam Hackenburg at East Coast Pro and he is a really cool guy. I actually found out that he’s older than me. I’m a younger 2017. I wasn’t able to really to see Spencer Strider all week.”
The summer tournament tour is now over for Meredith.
“My summer is over. I will continue to play with the Dirtbags this fall and train with my coach Andy Partin,” he said.
It has been a busy summer for Meredith, but playing with the nation’s best in tournaments around the country has helped prepare him for the college game.
“Playing with the Dirtbags helped me tremendously. Andy Partins schedules us against the best of the best and he puts us in a college/professional setting. He holds all of us accountable,” said Meredith.
