How did Clemson’s commitments perform in their games on Friday night?
The Clemson Insider has the latest on those performances here:
Week 3, like the first two weeks of the high school football season, brought great play from future Clemson stars.
Quarterback commit Hunter Johnson led the way, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns for Brownsburg (Ind.) in its 46-30 victory at Franklin. Johnson also rushed for a fourth touchdown, and completed 19 of 26 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone.
Wide receiver Amari Rodgers caught six passes for 205 yards and two scores, including an 82-yard touchdown reception, as Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic knocked off Knoxville Central 49-19. Like Johnson, Rodgers did most of his damage in the first half. Through three games, Rodgers has totaled a remarkable 14 receptions, 438 yards and six touchdowns.
Receiver Tee Higgins recorded six catches, as well, for 97 yards and a 17-yard touchdown reception in Oak Ridge (Tenn.)’s 30-25 win against Farragut.
Quarterback Chase Brice and Grayson (Ga.) bounced back from a loss to IMG Academy last week. Brice completed 18 of 28 passes for 182 yards and an interception in Grayson’s 16-13 edging of McEachern. Two critical, fourth-quarter completions from Brice helped set up Grayson’s game-winning field goal.
Cornerback commit A.J. Terrell, who plays both ways for Westlake (Ga.), ran for a 2-yard score and hauled in a 31-yard touchdown catch in his team’s 29-13 win versus Shiloh.
Frank W. Cox (Va.) defensive end Jordan Williams put the finishing touches on his team’s 23-14 victory at Green Run. Cox scored 23 unanswered points, capped by Williams’ sack-fumble and recovery in the end zone for the final touchdown of the game.
Linebacker commit Baylon Spector, who plays quarterback for Calhoun (Ga.), went 6-of-21 passing for 55 yards in a 56-0 loss to Cartersville.
Meanwhile, running back Cordarrian Richardson and Trezevant (Tenn.) shut out King Prep 54-0, while cornerback LeAnthony Williams and Roswell (Ga.) routed Central Gwinnett 31-6.
2018 linebacker commit Mike Jones and IMG Academy play Corona (Calif.) Centennial at 10 p.m. tonight at a neutral site in Mission Viejo, Calif.
