In late August, Callaway High School (Hogansville, Ga.) four-star offensive guard Keiondre Jones told The Clemson Insider that he was hoping for an offer from Clemson.
On Wednesday, he got it.
Jones’ coach called him to break the news.
“I was extremely excited,” Jones told TCI. “This was an offer I’ve been waiting on a long time.”
Jones and his mother visited Clemson over the summer, and they both left very impressed.
“This is my mom’s favorite school,” Jones said, “and the best visit I’ve been on. They jumped to the top with that.”
Jones is rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard, the No. 5 prospect in Georgia and the No. 21 prospect overall in the class of 2019.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound sophomore already holds offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State and Tennessee.
Now that Clemson has thrown its hat in the ring for Jones, the Tigers are an early favorite.
“Yes sir,” Jones said. “(The offer) shook a lot up.”
