Clemson linebacker Ben Boulware spoke with the media after his huge 18 tackle game in the Tigers’ 42-36 victory over Louisville on Saturday.
The senior, who was named as the ACC Player of the Week on Monday and took home national honors, had three tackles for loss, including a sack, recovered a fumble and deflected a pass in the solid all-around effort.
Eight of Boulware’s tackles were solo stops.
Q: How was the feeling of a huge matchup and having the defense on your shoulders?
Boulware: “Yeah I kind of had that feeling. I started thinking of Notre Dame and I was like we’re gonna find a way to win. We were sloppy and there’s a lot of things that need correcting but I’m very proud of my guys. They showed a lot of maturity and we just kept fighting. We found a way to win.”
Q: What about Jackson?
Boulware: “He’s a freak. I was very confident going in that our scheme would shut him down, but hats off to that dude. He’s a freak athlete and he exposed us in some areas. It’s hard to stop him. A lot of times we had good leverage on him and he just out ran us or he made a play. He’s probably the best player I’ve ever played against.”
Q: Would you ever want to play him again?
Boulware: “Hell no! He made it so difficult for us in that game I could really see his heart.”
