Friday Night Lights

How did Clemson’s commits perform in their games on Friday night?

The Clemson Insider has the latest on those performances here:

Hunter Johnson threw for four touchdowns to lead Brownsburg (Ind.) to a 35-24 victory at Hamilton Southeastern that clinched the conference title. Johnson completed 19-of-29 passes for 215 yards, and added 72 yards rushing on 16 carries. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder threw an interception, though it occurred on a Hail Mary heave at the end of the first half. You can see highlights of Johnson’s impressive night below:

Grayson (Ga.) quarterback Chase Brice was, per usual, highly efficient and effective in his team’s 38-0 shutout of Archer. Brice went 8-for-12 passing for 175 yards and three touchdowns, including touchdowns of 54 and 65 yards.

Amari Rodgers helped Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic win its region title with a 55-14 rout at Carter. Rodgers had five catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns, including a 63-yarder. Rodgers has recorded at least one touchdown in every game this season, and multiple touchdowns in five of seven games.

Cornerback commit A.J. Terrell, who plays both ways for Westlake (Atlanta), made a big play in every phase of the game during his team’s 10-7 win at Pebblebrook. Terrell scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run, then sealed the game with an interception. He also returned a punt 65 yards in the first quarter to set up a field goal, Westlake’s only other score of the contest.

2018 linebacker commit Mike Jones made a big play on special teams, as well. Jones took a fake punt 46 yards in IMG Academy’s 38-0 shutout of Oxbridge Academy.

Clemson’s newest commit, linebacker Justin Foster, helped Crest (Shelby, N.C.) to a 53-6 win at East Burke. Cornerback LeAnthony Williams and Roswell (Ga.) defeated Walton 55-10, while defensive end Jordan Williams and Frank W. Cox (Virginia Beach, Va.) beat First Colonial 28-7. Offensive lineman Noah DeHond and Peddie won 54-30 at Lawrenceville School, while Blake Vinson and North Marion (Citra, Fla.) suffered just their third loss of the season to powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna, 35-14.

Oak Ridge (Tenn.) wide receiver Tee Higgins and Calhoun (Ga.) linebacker Baylon Spector had byes this week.
