Venables knew defense was ready for dominant performance

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables knew his defense was ready for a dominant performance on Friday when they went through the final preparations for the rivalry game.

The fourth-ranked Tigers held rival South Carolina to 218 total yards in a 56-7 victory in Death Valley on Saturday night. Venables said he believes the defense is hitting their stride at the right time.
