Katie Florio, a freshman at Clemson, has joined The Clemson Insider staff as an intern. Florio will help TCI with writing, social media and video production.
“We are so excited to have Katie join our staff. She loves the Clemson Tigers and she loves Clemson University, and, as a Clemson alumnus, I’m thrilled to help her get the experience she needs to pursue her career in the world of sports journalism,” said TCI owner and publisher Robert MacRae. “She has a lot of enthusiasm for sports and for the Tigers and I think she will bring a lot to the table for us.”
Though she is just a freshman, Florio is already showing her determination. In her first semester at Clemson, she shadowed and helped Don Munson, “The Voice of the Tigers,” with player interviews and such during the regular season.
Florio’s ultimate goal is to be a Sports Reporter/Broadcaster for a television network. She has already worked as an anchor for West Florence’s morning show, Knight Network.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to work for TCI and I plan to give the TCI readers great coverage of Clemson sports,” she said.
A Florence, South Carolina native, Florio graduated from West Florence High School in June of 2016. Sports have always been an important aspect of her life considering her dad is a former professional hockey player, her brother is a high school varsity baseball player and she was a varsity softball player and cheerleader in high school.
