5-star lineman looks forward to seeing Clemson, meeting Swinney

Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Carman, a consensus top-10 prospect in the 2018 class, continues to express interest in Clemson.

The Fairfield (Ohio) High School product who holds over 30 scholarship offers as a junior recently spoke with The Clemson Insider and reiterated his intention to visit Clemson at some point in the future.

“I’ll be looking forward to checking out their facilities, how the culture is, the academic support and meeting coach (Dabo) Swinney,” Carman told TCI.

Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell extended an offer to Carman in May. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound talent also carries offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Southern Cal to name some.

Carman said he hears often from Caldwell.

“I talk to coach Caldwell pretty regularly,” Carman said.

Ohio State, Alabama, Southern Cal, Clemson and LSU are currently recruiting Carman the hardest, he said.

Ohio State remains the leader for the future All-American, though he said Clemson is in good standing right now.

Carman, whose father lives in Charleston, told TCI in November that Clemson was one of his top five schools.

What does Carman think about the upcoming College Football Playoff semifinal between the Tigers and Buckeyes?

“I think it’s going to be a good game,” Carman said.

“No predictions,” he added, laughing.

Carman hasn’t solidified his offseason schedule of visits, but said he will check out Southern Cal over the summer.

Carman is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 2 prospect nationally in the 2018 class.
