Clemson slices deficit in half

TAMPA, Fla. — Clemson needed to come up with a big drive to halt Alabama’s growing momentum, and the Tigers did just that.

Deshaun Watson cut Clemson’s deficit to 14-7 courtesy of an 8-yard touchdown run with 6:09 left in the second quarter.

The score was set up by a spectacular 44-yard catch-and-run by Deon Cain on second-and-6 earlier in the possession. A precise 26-yard pass from Watson to tight end Jordan Leggett on third-and-10 later extended the drive.

Overall, it was a seven-play, 87-yard drive.
