With baseball season right around the corner, TCI continues our preseason coverage as we take a brief look at the 2017 Clemson baseball schedule.
The Tigers will again play a top schedule in 2017, with 29 games coming against teams that played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Clemson will play 35 games in the friendly confines of Doug Kingsmore Stadium while also playing three games at Fluor Field in Greenville.
Clemson will host ACC series against Louisville, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest while traveling to Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State, and North Carolina. The Tigers will not face Duke, Miami (FL), or Pittsburgh in regular-season ACC play.
In addition to the 30 ACC games, Clemson will face familiar foes South Carolina, Georgia, College of Charleston, and Furman multiple times along with weekend series against Wright State, Elon, and Nevada. Yale will play two midweek games in Tigertown while single games against Western Carolina, Wofford, Michigan State, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, and defending National Champion Coastal Carolina wrap up the slate.
The 2017 ACC Baseball Championship moves to Louisville, KY and Louisville Slugger Field this year with a new 12-team format. Four pools of three teams will make up the field with pool play games Tuesday to Friday (three per day). Saturday will feature two semifinals with the winner of each pool advancing with the Championship Game on Sunday.
