After finishing 7-6 last season, Boston College looks to improve upon the 2016 season.
Who they lost: While they have talent returning, they are also losing some key starters. Starting quarterback Patrick Towels will be graduated, which is always a tough replacement at the quarterback position. They are also losing two key players on defense in free safety John Johnson and outside linebacker Matt Milano, both of which are expected to be drafted. They are losing some key pieces to their team.
Who is coming back? One positive for BC is that so far, they have no one besides seniors declared for the draft, meaning they will be bringing back a lot of talent from this last season. Notable returners are second-team All-American defensive end Harold Landry, who was a force this past season off the edge. Also returning are leading rusher Jon Hillman and leading receiver Michael Walker.
Recruiting class: Recruiting wise, they did not have the strongest class. They did have 21 signees which is not a bad number at all, but they failed to recruit any four-star recruits in the process.
2017 schedule: Boston College’s schedule for the upcoming season is not easy by any means, but isn’t as tough as many other ACC teams. With their schedule obviously playing Clemson and Florida State are tough tasks, but putting them aside their will be two key games for them. On Oct. 7 against Virginia Tech is one. Tech is usually a strong team, but not a powerhouse. A win against them could do major positives for the team. Next would be final game of the season, Nov. 25th against Syracuse. The Orange is going to be an above average team next year, expect this to be a make or break game for BC.
Projected finish: 4-8
