Clemson baseball class of 2017 signee Bo Majkowski is just a couple of days away from the start of his final season at Johns Creek (Ga.) High School, which begins on Tuesday against Cartersville.
After batting .333 with 25 runs scored and 13 stolen bases as a junior outfielder, Majkowski hopes to enjoy another productive season that will help his team succeed.
“I really hope I’ll be able to do everything I can to help my team out,” Majkowski told The Clemson Insider.
Majkowski, the son of former Virginia and NFL quarterback Don Majkowski, committed to Clemson on Nov. 10, 2015. He signed with the school exactly one year later, calling his choice to play at Clemson “the best decision of my life.”
Bo’s blood runs deep with passion for Clemson, so he was thrilled to see the Tigers win the college football national championship last month.
“It was unreal watching them win the natty this year,” he said. “I’ve never been more into a game in my life. After (Hunter) Renfrow caught the game-winning TD, I ran around my house screaming.”
He believes another memorable season is in store for the Clemson baseball team, as well, after watching head coach Monte Lee lead the Tigers to the ACC Championship in his first year in 2016.
“I truly believe they have a great shot at getting to Omaha,” Bo said. “I mean his first season they won the ACC Championship. There’s no doubt that all of his players are buying in and aiming for a CWS.”
It won’t be long before Bo joins the team next summer. His high-level skills, strong throwing arm and athletic instincts will give him the chance to compete for playing time right away.
But before he starts the next chapter of his career, he wants to wrap up his high school career the right way.
“I couldn’t be more excited for this season,” Bo said. “We have a great group of guys, and we have all been really close since middle school. I just want to make a good playoff run this year.”
