Former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson told the Associated Press on Monday, as well as other media prior to the Davey O’Brien Trophy presentation in Fort Worth, Texas, that he plans to participate in every aspect of the NFL Scouting Combine next week in Indianapolis, Ind.

The combined will be held on Feb. 28-March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Watson was in Fort Worth to collect his second O’Brien Award as the nation’s best quarterback in as many years, while becoming the first repeat winner since Oklahoma’s Jason White did the same in 2003 and 2004.

The Clemson quarterback also won the Manning Award as the nation’s best quarterback, awarded when the bowl season is completed, while also winning the Johnny Unitas Award as the best senior quarterback in the country.

Watson also won the Bobby Bowden Award.

By saying he will participate in every aspect of the combine, it means Watson will not only throw but he will also run the 40-yard dash and bench press among other things.

This past season, Watson threw for 4,593 yards while completing 67 percent of his passes. He also tossed 41 touchdowns and ran for another nine. The All-American also rushed for 623 yards.

Of course Clemson fans will always remember Watson for his two-minute game-winning drive in the national championship game on Jan. 9 when he direct the Tigers on a 68-yard game-winning drive which he capped with a two-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow with one second left to beat Alabama.

Watson, who will participate in Clemson’s Pro Day on March 9, is considered one of the top players in this year’s draft. Most draft experts have him going in the first 12 picks, while others have him going in the top 3.

“I like Watson a lot better than some of these experts who are all over the board with him,” said Gil Brandt, who was vice president of player personnel of the Dallas Cowboys from 1960-’88, to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He’s had great production in big games. That means a lot to me.”

Watson led the Tigers on four fourth-quarter or overtime drives this season for victory, the most in one season for a Clemson team since 1958. By the way, Watson threw the winning touchdown pass in all four wins.
