While most people knew how much of an impact tight end Jordan Leggett had on Clemson’s success over the last couple of years, they probably won’t truly understand how vital he was until this coming season.

Yes, there are several quality tight ends such as Milan Richard, Garrett Williams and Cannon Smith who could all very well step into the starting role and succeed, but Leggett’s combination of size, speed and hands will be missed.

Mustapha Muhammad, the No. 1 ranked tight end in the Class of 2018, could be the next Jordan Leggett for the Tigers.

The 6-foot-4 235-pound Missouri City (Texas) product attended Junior Day back in January and plans to come back to Clemson.

“I don’t know about near future but I’ll be back,” he said. “Probably summer.”

Muhammad hosts an offer from nearly every major school in the country, including the last eight winners of the national championship.

With that many schools on his offer sheet, he hears quite frequently from all of them.

“Most of them actually…I get texts and mail every day,” he said.

He told TCI that he does not have any favorites, but plans on releasing his official list of top 10 schools in May.

Until then, he will participate in a several camps as he prepares for his senior season and the recruitment process.

“I did the Opening about a month ago and I’m going to Under Armour and Rivals as well,” said Muhammad.

While Muhammad’s Junior Day visit was over a month ago, he said that the facility made a good impression on him.

“It was nice; I haven’t seen anything like it before,” he said.

As he finishes his junior year, Muhammad said that he is looking to improve his “strength and consistency” for his senior season.

While Tiger fans won’t find out about Muhammad’s decision for a while, he said he has a lot to bring to the table for the Clemson program.

“A versatile tight end that is an end zone threat similar to Leggett,” he said.
