So it has gotten this bad? A guy can’t go into a rivals’ restaurant and grab a bite to eat without someone acting stupid?

That’s what happened on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala., after former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson went into Innisfree Irish Pub and tried to grab a bite to eat with some friends. Instead Watson was harassed and basically forced to leave by immature Alabama fans, and allegedly by some Alabama players, who take football a little too serious than they should.

However, once again, Watson won in the end. Just like he did in a last-minute drive to beat the Crimson Tide in the national title game back in January, Watson showed a lot of poise when he got up without causing any trouble and walked out of Innisfree Irish Pub. The two-time Heisman Finalist also showed a lot of class, integrity and professionalism as well.

It is heartbreaking to see people act like this over anything, but it is especially heartbreaking when it is over a football game. It’s a game people. Let’s put it into proper perspective.

That’s obviously what Watson has done. The Clemson quarterback tries not to take football as serious despite he has every reason to. It is his livelihood after all. However, he knows it is not vital in the grand scheme of things.

When he was 15-years old, Watson watched helplessly as his mom battled tongue cancer, causing her to lose her tongue and her ability to speak in the long run. However, he also saw her fight back and not give up as he saw her persevere and teach herself how to talk again and communicate. During all the chemo treatments and the radiation, his mom attended every one of his games. She never missed him play a game and that is still the case today.

Watson learned at a young age, even though football is important to him, that it is still just a game and that in the grand scheme of life it means nothing. So when a couple of Alabama fans acted out because Watson made their team and their “great defenses” look foolish the last two years with his 941 total yards and eight touchdowns, while setting the two greatest performances by a quarterback in a National Championship Game, he got up and walked out.

He did not call out scoreboard, even though he could have. He did not throw out the fact he threw for a championship record 420 yards and three touchdowns against an Alabama defense that many were saying was the “greatest of all-time.” He did not brag about leading his team down the field in the final two minutes to win the game. He did not brag about throwing the game-winning touchdown pass with one second to play.

Nope, Deshaun Watson just got up and showed class. He left the bar without causing any more of a scene. Also, kudos for Innisfree Irish Pub for finding out who caused all the commotion in the first place, and asking them to leave their restaurant. It was also nice hearing that one young lady in a twitter video apologize to Watson as he was leaving the pub for the way her fellow Alabama fans were treating him.

However, let’s not forget the real story here. The real story is not how stupid those few Alabama fans were acting, but instead it was how Watson showed a lot of class when some Crimson Tide fans were showing none.
