Daleville (Va.) Lord Botetourt 2019 offensive lineman Jesse Hanson has drawn interest from Clemson and developed a relationship with offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell, largely because he has been a regular participant in the Dabo Swinney Camp over the years.
Hanson will compete at the camp again in June, and hopes to impress by exhibiting the improvements he has made as a player.
“I’m really looking forward to showing coach Caldwell how much I have grown and how much my skills have progressed since last year,” Hanson told The Clemson Insider.
Hanson (6-4, 290) picked up his first Power Five offers last week, with Virginia and Iowa State pulling the trigger. Coastal Carolina accounted for his first offer in April.
Caldwell recently reached out to Hanson’s coach about coming by Lord Botetourt this week to further evaluate him.
“The latest I have heard from Clemson is an email they sent to my coach saying they might be coming by the school to visit,” Hanson said.
Hanson most recently visited Clemson for the spring game last month after attending the Syracuse game last season. He also plans to camp at East Carolina, Iowa State, Penn State, Virginia and Virginia Tech over the summer.
An offer from the Tigers would carry added significance for Hanson, whose parents are Clemson graduates.
“Getting an offer from the national champions would be huge,” Hanson said. “But I think for me and my family it would be a little extra special to have the opportunity to go to school for free and play for the team my parents went to and I have grown up watching.”
