Clemson left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes tossed a gem against N.C. State on Thursday, but the 12th-ranked Tigers came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Wolfpack at Doak Field in Raleigh.
Barnes pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs, seven hits and one walk while tying a career-high with 11 strikeouts.
