4-star OL ‘a big fan’ of Clemson

Jackson Lampley, one of the top rising junior offensive linemen in the Southeast, visited Clemson on June 14 to compete at the second session of the Dabo Swinney Camp.

The four-star from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tenn., spoke with The Clemson Insider about his time on campus.

“I really liked my experience at Clemson,” Lampley said. “It was a great opportunity to work with coach (Robbie) Caldwell and some of the Clemson offensive linemen. I also liked competing against some of the talented defensive linemen.”

Lampley (6-4, 299), the son of former Tennessee offensive lineman Brad Lampley, received his first offer from the Volunteers last October.

Since then, he has added offers from Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Kentucky, Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Purdue and Vanderbilt.

Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell told Lampley he plans to start recruiting him officially in September, when coaches can begin contacting prospects in the class of 2019.

“He was very complementary about my performance, and told me that I will be hearing a lot from him come September,” Lampley said. “He really likes my aggressiveness and my athleticism.”

Lampley said Clemson is a school that stands out to him early in the recruiting process along with Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Duke, Ole Miss and Louisville.

He wants to see more schools moving forward and isn’t in a hurry to make his college decision.

“It’s still really early in the recruiting process, and I haven’t visited everywhere yet,” he said. “Plus, I have schools like Alabama who want me to visit as soon as I can.”

Lampley has also visited Auburn, Tennessee, Duke, Louisville and Ole Miss this summer. He plans to visit Alabama and LSU in the next few weeks.

Clemson impressed Lampley during his stop at the school.

“Obviously the facilities are unbelievable,” he said. “I also really like the culture that coach Swinney has developed. It would mean a lot to get an offer from Clemson because I’ve always really been a big fan of their program.”

Lampley is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 11 offensive tackle and No. 89 overall prospect in his class.
