Top Clemson safety target breaks down favorite schools

Quindarious Monday, one of the nation’s top safety prospects, recently announced his top schools and named Clemson among them.

Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee also made the cut for the four-star from Atlanta (Ga.) Carver.

Monday broke down his list with The Clemson Insider. Here’s what he had to say about each school in his top seven:

Clemson: “Clemson has always been one of my dream schools, and when I went to visit I really saw a lot that I didn’t know was at Clemson, and how the coaches are.”

Florida State: “I like FSU. They are one of the schools named for DBU. The coaches are real great.”

Auburn: “They have a great head coach (Gus Malzahn). They have a great coaching staff behind them. They got some good DBs. They have a new DB coach (Greg Brown) that coached a lot of great DBs in the league.”

Georgia: “That’s one of my dream schools too. I loved Georgia when I was growing up. Coach Mel Tucker has been in the league and at a lot of top programs in college, and they have great facilities.”

Tennessee: Coach Butch (Jones)’s coaching staff is real great, and he’s on the come-up because he has a lot of new coaches. That’s basically a fresh start, so it’s a good thing.”

Florida: “That’s another school named for DBU. They have a lot of good DBs. Most of them get a chance to go to the league and do great things.”

Georgia Tech: “It’s a great academic school, and I know that’s really why I’m going to college. It’s not just football. The coaching staff is really great. They talk to me every day, and I know I would have a good shot of going in there and playing.”

Clemson offered Monday (6-3, 175) in early June. He subsequently visited for the Dabo Swinney Camp and left very impressed.

Monday, the country’s No. 8 safety and No. 105 overall prospect per ESPN, has not yet set a decision date.

He plans to return to Clemson for the upcoming All In Cookout.
