4-star RB looking to see more from Clemson

Clemson’s 2019 class should shape up to be larger than its last two, with it likely eclipsing over 20 of high school football’s best players in the country.

There are several top running backs that are high on Clemson’s list for 2019, and Devyn Ford should emerge as one of them over the next couple of months. The North Stafford (Va.) product recently visited UNC and said he already has plans to visit Ohio State and Penn State this season.

He also mentioned he is going to “try to get down to Clemson” this fall, but is not sure which game he will attend. Ford told The Clemson Insider he has not talked with any of Clemson’s coaches recently, but is hoping talks between both sides will ramp up soon.

According to Ford, Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, UNC, Ohio and Southern Cal are recruiting him the hardest as of right now.

Ford would like to see Clemson start to pick up more interest in him soon, and said that they have potential to become a favorite if they start to communicate with him more often and show him that they want him.

“There just hasn’t been much so I don’t know how they truly feel about me,” Ford said.

It would mean a lot to Ford to know the reigning national champs wanted to use him as one of their feature backs.

“It means a lot that I’ll be able to help the team, but I’ll also have to know what and how they plan to use me,” he said.

Ford plans on using his visits this season to become more “comfortable with the coaches and academics” before he makes his list of favorites at the end of his junior season.

It won’t be surprising if Clemson starts to communicate more with Ford as the season wears on, especially if he continues to put on performances like the one against Dumfries (Va.) Potomac two weeks ago where he ran for 227 yards and scored six touchdowns.
