Irmo (S.C.) running back Kendrell Flowers is getting interest from Clemson and has visited the school twice this season thus far.
The 2019 prospect attended the Tigers’ game against Auburn on Sept. 9 with his mom and stepdad before returning with two of his uncles for the Boston College game last weekend.
“I enjoyed it,” Flowers said of the visits. “The atmosphere was great. I found myself being a fan as well, so that was good. And taking my mom around the facility, she loved it. I loved it too because it’s everything you can ask for.”
Flowers (6-1, 205) has a lot of talent with great bloodlines to boot. He is a nephew of former Clemson great Raymond Priester, who ranks first on the program’s career rushing list with 3,966 yards from 1994-97.
The two talk from time to time, and Flowers is heeding the advice his uncle has given him.
“He just told me to keep my grades up because that’s going to take me a long way,” Flowers said. “So I’m just staying in the books and keeping my grades up.”
Through six games as a junior this season, Flowers has rushed 81 times for 483 yards (5.9 average) and four touchdowns.
According to Flowers, Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott and recruiting coordinator Brandon Streeter like what they’ve seen on film.
“They were just telling me to keep doing what I’m doing and I’m looking good on the field,” Flowers said. “So hopefully I can keep that work up and hopefully I can do better things on the field.”
Flowers camped at Clemson in June and was one of the standout performers.
“It was a good experience,” he said. “I learned a lot from coach Elliott, and there are a couple of drills that I still work on today to get my footwork right. So that was a good experience.”
Along with Clemson, several schools are showing interest.
“Right now I’m receiving mail from North Carolina,” Flowers said. “I’m visiting them October 7 for their game against Notre Dame. Florida invited me to a game. Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Georgia Tech are the other schools that are recruiting me right now.”
An offer from the Tigers in the future would certainly mean a lot to the Clemson legacy recruit.
“Man, it would make me the happiest person,” Flowers said. “But it’s not easy. I know how their recruiting process goes. That’s why I’m continuing to put in the work, and hopefully that offer comes in soon.”
