Some notes on a Friday as it relates to Clemson recruiting:
As one might expect considering the competition, Clemson’s guest list of recruits for Saturday’s noon game against Wake Forest rivals the Kent State season opener as the slimmest of the season thus far in terms of both the number of prospects and amount of talent.
Several prospects worth mentioning are slated to visit, though, including Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley 2020 wide receiver Michael Wyman (pictured).
Wyman is ranked by 247Sports as a top-100 prospect in his class. The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder has an offer from North Carolina, while he is getting interest from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, N.C. State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia along with Clemson.
Wyman also visited Clemson in July. He was in Blacksburg last weekend for the Clemson-Virginia Tech game and has been to N.C. State and Ohio State this season, as well.
Paintsville (Ky.) Johnson Central linebacker Devin Johnson is another notable 2020 prospect expected to be on hand. Johnson (6-0, 200) competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp in June. Kentucky, Wake Forest and West Virginia are among the schools showing interest.
Mountain Brook (Ala.) 2019 wide receiver Hamp Greene is also slated to be in Death Valley. He participated in the Swinney Camp in June, as well.
Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman 2018 offensive lineman Jordan McFadden, who visited Clemson for the Auburn and Boston College games, was contemplating a return trip for the Wake Forest game but told TCI will not be there.
Rundown of Clemson targets visiting elsewhere. A number of Clemson targets are slated to visit other schools on Saturday.
Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy five-star offensive guard Jamaree Salyer is expected to make his first official visit, to Florida. The Gators will host several Clemson targets in the 2019 class for their game against LSU, as well, including Charlotte (N.C.) Harding five-star running back Quavaris Crouch, Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman four-star wide receiver Trey Knox and Largo (Fla.) four-star offensive lineman Jaquaze Sorrells, a Florida commit.
Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage defensive backs Patrick Surtain and Tyson Campbell will visit Florida State for its game against Miami. So will Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville four-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph, who de-committed from LSU this week, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson 2019 five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe, Saint Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy 2019 four-star wide receiver Jashawn Sheffield and Frederica Academy 2019 four-star cornerback Jaylin Simpson.
Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County four-star offensive guard Trey Hill is expected to be at Auburn for its game against Ole Miss, while Belleview (Fla.) 2019 four-star offensive lineman Michael Tarquin is slated to visit South Carolina for its game against Arkansas.
