Clemson’s defensive line has enjoyed plenty of success this year, due in large part to a deep recruiting pool over the years.
The 2018 Class has its share of top D-line talent headlined with five-star commit Xavier Thomas along with Justin Mascoll, Josh Belk and Darnell Jefferies, and they should add even more in 2019.
Zovon Lindsay could end up being one of those defensive linemen in Clemson’s 2019 class. The Fayetteville (N.C.) Christian defensive tackle has recently taken visits to N.C. State and Virginia Tech. Lindsay was at Lane Stadium for the Virginia Tech-Clemson game and said it was an overall great visit and that he was impressed with the Tigers tenacity in a hostile environment.
“I enjoyed it a lot, it was a great atmosphere,” said Lindsay. “It shows a lot about their discipline, it was very loud and they stayed calm and handled business.”
So far this year, Lindsay said his favorite visit has been to Death Valley for the Kent State game.
“I would have to say Clemson because the coaches are very hospitable and just the atmosphere there is amazing,” he said.
Lindsay currently does not have any more visits lined up for the rest of the season, but N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Clemson are showing the most interest in him.
According to the 6-foot-5, 250-pound tackle, they are all on even playing ground right now.
“I really like all three of those universities a lot so I really don’t have a huge favorite right now,” he said.
Lindsay said he plans on getting in touch with some of Clemson’s coaches in order to establish quality relationships and hopefully get an offer from the reigning national champs soon.
“Just keep building a good relationship and get more comfortable with them,” he said. “Hopefully, close but I’m just gonna keep doing what I have to do on and off the field to earn it.”
If he can get that offer, he said it would mean a lot, especially seeing the Tigers continued success on the field.
“It would show that the coaches believe I can fit into their system and I could be the next great defensive lineman to come through Clemson,” said Lindsay.
