Four-star wide receiver Jacoby Pinckney, one of the Palmetto State’s premier prospects, made an unofficial visit to Clemson on Saturday for the Florida State game.
“I enjoyed myself,” Pinckney told The Clemson Insider. “Good experience.”
The standout from Dorman High in Roebuck, S.C., watched the Tigers clinch their third straight Atlantic Division title with a 31-14 win over the Seminoles.
“I think it was a good win for them,” Pinckney said. “Florida State fought but they fought back harder.”
Seeing Clemson’s football operations facility served as one of the highlights of his visit for Pinckney.
“I think it’s amazing,” he said. “My favorite part is probably the outdoor area. I keep it simple.”
Pinckney, who is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in South Carolina for the class of 2019, said he is receiving mail from Clemson “often.” He had a chance to catch up with several members of Clemson’s staff during the visit.
“I talked to (offensive graduate assistant) Xavier Dye. He used to train me,” Pinckney said. “I also talked to Tony Elliott and the strength coach (Joey Batson).”
Pinckney (6-2, 190) recently received an offer from Ole Miss to go with others from Duke, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Indiana and South Carolina. He cited several of the aforementioned schools recruiting him the hardest.
“Virginia Tech, Indiana, Georgia and Ole Miss,” he said.
Pinckney said his recruitment remains wide open and he hasn’t yet decided when he will make his decision.
In 11 games as a junior this season, Pinckney has registered 48 receptions for 847 yards and five touchdowns. As a sophomore last season, he logged 65 catches for 968 yards and five touchdowns.
