St. Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy four-star cornerback Jaylin Simpson named Clemson one of the five finalists in his recruitment on Thursday via social media.
Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State also made the cut for the top 2019 prospect.
“God has given me so many reasons to be thankful,” Simpson wrote in a Twitter post. “I’m thankful for all of my offers but these will be the 5 schools I will be picking from to further my academic and athletic future.”
Simpson (5-11, 165) received an offer from Clemson in late August. He then visited Clemson for the Auburn game on Sept. 9.
The Tigers have made a strong impression on Simpson, who told TCI recently that Clemson was the leader in his recruitment.
“No. 1,” he said. “I love the relationship I have with the coaches and how they are recruiting me.”
In addition to his top five, Simpson holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
Simpson is ranked by the major recruiting services as a top-200 prospect in his class regardless of position.
He is teammates with 2019 four-star wide receiver Jashawn Sheffield, who also has a Clemson offer.
