Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell says the Tigers have a chip on their shoulder heading into their Sugar Bowl contest against No. 4 Alabama in the College Football Playoff.
“We play with a chip on our shoulder and that just shows that we are never satisfied,” Ferrell said on Wednesday. “I feel like the ACC Championship really showed that we didn’t want to just come out and win the game going against the ‘U.’
“We wanted to go out there and make a statement that we are the best team in the country and when we’re playing at our best and nobody can beat us. With this team it’s really great to see since we lost possibly the best player to ever come through here (Deshaun Watson), one of the greatest leaders in Ben Boulware, all those superstars and just to see how this team rallies back and not really let the past define us and just focus on what we believe and not what anybody believes about us is really, really big for us.”
