Tigers finish non-conference slate on 7-game winning streak

After earning two emotional wins over Florida and South Carolina in the last six days, it would have been understandable if Clemson came out a little flat against Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday.

However, that did not happen. Instead, Clemson came out and made 60-percent of its shots in the first half and jumped out to a 15-point lead as it rolled to an easy 89-60 victory at Littlejohn Coliseum.

“What a great way to finish the first semester,” Clemson head coach Brad Brownell said afterward. “That was kind of the message we had leading in … just finish.”

The Tigers finished the first semester 11-1 in non-conference play, the program’s best since it went 14-0 in non-ACC games in the regular season back in 2008-’09.  Clemson heads into the ACC season on Dec. 30, when it hosts NC State, on a seven-game winning streak, the third longest in the Brownell era.

“Our guys played great basketball today. I thought we played really well,” Brownell said. “This is a dangerous team … very talented and very athletic. They showed flashes of why they are 10-3, but I just thought our guys played at a high level.”
