Alabama commit previews upcoming Clemson visit

A considerable group of premier underclassmen prospects will be in Clemson this weekend for the program’s elite junior day.

Among the recruits that are planning to visit is Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville four-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick, an Alabama commitment.

It will be the second visit to Clemson for Quick, who is ranked as a top-five offensive tackle and top-50 overall prospect in the Class of 2019.

“I’m hoping to be able to get a refresher of the facilities,” Quick told TCI, “and be able to keep building my bond with all the coaches.”

Quick (6-5, 277) committed to Alabama in April. The in-state standout was born and raised an Alabama fan and remains strong on his pledge to the Tide.

However, Quick has made it clear he wants to do his due diligence with the recruiting process. He knows nothing is set in stone until he signs on the dotted line, and there’s a lot that can happen between now and then.

So, Quick is keeping his options open, and his interest in Clemson is legitimate. He attended Clemson’s junior day last March and came away impressed by what the program has to offer.

Quick’s area recruiter for Clemson is Todd Bates, who gave Quick his first offer when he was an assistant at Jacksonville State. The Tigers offered in September and have stayed in consistent contact with him since.

What has he heard from the coaches?

“Just that I’m a top priority,” Quick said, “and they feel Clemson is my best fit.”

Quick said he doesn’t currently have any visits planned aside from Clemson. He named Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee and Mississippi State as other schools he is keeping in touch with besides Alabama and Clemson.

Quick is ranked by ESPN as the No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 33 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
