Clemson suffered its first loss in Littlejohn Coliseum this season as it fell to No. 12 Duke 66-57 on Sunday afternoon.

The loss was Clemson’s second straight, the first time that has happened this season. With the loss, the Blue Devils gained control of second place in the ACC at 10-4 while the Tigers drop to fourth place at 9-5.

Clemson (20-6) found itself down as much as 10 points in the second half before rallying back to tie the game late when David Skara made a layup with 2:03 to play. Duke’s Gary Trent Jr. responded with a three-point shot with 1:33 left and was fouled by Scott Spencer. Trent Jr. made all three free throws and then Wendell Carter Jr. drew in a three-point play to secure the Blue Devils’ win with 46 seconds left in the half.

Duke’s (22-5) extended zone as well as focusing on limiting Gabe DeVoe and Marcquise Reed ultimately led to the Tigers loss. DeVoe, who has made at least 50 percent of his three-point attempts the last five games, went 1-for-8 from behind the arc and 1-for-10 overall. He finished with three points. Reed went 3-for-14 from the field and 1-for-6 from behind the arc, finishing with 13 points.
