Tigers offer 4-star, in-state TE

Clemson has offered Greenwood (S.C.) Emerald 2019 tight end Luke Deal, he announced via social media Monday afternoon.

“Blessed to receive an offer from Clemson University!!” Deal wrote in a Twitter post.

Deal (6-5, 235) has also received offers from Auburn, Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan, Southern Cal and others this calendar year. He picked up his first offer from NC State last November before Georgia offered him in December.

Deal competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer and visited Clemson for the Wake Forest game in the fall. He estimated he has been to four or five games in Death Valley as a recruit. Deal’s sister is a student at Clemson, so he has a feel for the campus as well.

Deal told TCI recently that Clemson and Georgia were his childhood dream schools, and that an offer from the Tigers would mean a lot.

“Those were my favorite two teams always growing up,” Deal said. “Being an in-state guy, I’ve been to a lot of Clemson games. It would be unbelievable to get an offer from there. I’d be pretty excited for a while.

“I know how good a school it is, how great a program it is. It would be real exciting for sure.”

In addition to tight end, Deal played some quarterback and defensive end for Emerald last season.

Deal is rated as a four-star, the No. 3 prospect in South Carolina and No. 13 tight end nationally by 247Sports.
