Coming off an impressive performance that earned him D-line MVP honors at a recent local camp, Orlando (Fla.) Jones 2019 defender Raymond Cutts received an offer from Clemson this past weekend.

Cutts, who can play both defensive end and outside linebacker, was offered by the Tigers as a D-end.

“Coach Todd Bates had told me,” Cutts said of the offer. “Him and his daughter picked up the phone, and five minutes later he offered me.”

“It felt great,” Cutts added. “I’ve been wanting it for a long time.”

Cutts (6-3, 255) has also collected offers from Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota and South Florida this calendar year to go with other offers from Kentucky, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati and FAU.

Clemson has taken the lead in his recruitment with the offer, according to Cutts.

“No. 1,” he said when asked where the Tigers stand among his favorites right now.

What sticks out to Cutts about Clemson?

“Everything about the fan base that they have and the way the players are coached,” he said.

Clemson also offered Cutts’ teammate at Jones, 2019 linebacker Marcus Tillman Jr., over the weekend.

Tillman recently tweeted that he was planning to visit Clemson, and Cutts said he hopes to attend the Tigers’ junior day this weekend as well.

“I’m trying to make it up there,” Cutts said.

Cutts said he is looking to make his decision in the spring. He feels Clemson, Louisville, Maryland and USF are showing the most love at this time.
